HEMSBY has a new parish councillor following elections last week.
Maria Ellis, 47, won the seat vacated by Colin Robinson by polling 186 votes at the election on Thursday.
The other candidates Edward Bagguley and Steve Starbuck polled 60 and 139 votes respectively. The mum-of-three believed her victory was due to the fact she was a well-known face in the village through her work as a landscape gardener.
She said: “Although I was surprised to get in, I have been looking to become a councillor for a number of years.”
The overall turnout was 14.78pc.
