Ever fancied yourself as a pretty good golfer? Well you’ve got some work to do to better an 80-year-old man’s achievement at Gorleston Golf Club.
Ron Perry, 80 and from Bradwell, pulled off one of the most unlikely shots in golf when he hit a hole-in-one from his tee shot on the par-three seventh on Gorleston’s course on Friday, March 16.
The hole, 166 yeards long and protected by bunkers in front and at the side of the green, is Mr Perry’s first of a long golfing career.
He said: “I didn’t see it go in but my playing partner did and when I had hit it I thought it was a good shot. I was having a pretty crappy round at that time!
“It is my first ever hole in one. I have been playing for twenty years and it is nice to achieve a hole in one.
He added: “To get it on the green is a good shot. I hit the ball under the wind as anything too high gets caught, it is quite a challenging hole. “It was celebrated by just a nice feeling and high fives as it doesn’t come around often.”
