A system to rescue crew members who fall overboard – designed to help people who suffer cardiac arrests – has been developed by a boat builder.

Goodchild Marine Services, based at Burgh Castle near Great Yarmouth, has developed the man overboard recovery platform which can horizontally lift anyone who has fallen off a vessel.

The product has become one of the company's most popular with 11 systems sold so far, including six which have been attached to Goodchild built boats, and will be on show at the upcoming Seawork exhibition in Southampton.

Alan Goodchild, managing director of Goodchild Marine, said: 'This has become one of our bestselling products with widespread interest in the UK and abroad and we are delighted to be exhibiting the platform at Seawork 2018.'

The Norfolk company has already sold the platform overseas with one system travelling as far as Australia.
