A tech giant is visiting the town to teach businesses and residents digital skills.

Google will be in Great Yarmouth on Friday as part of its coastal towns tour.

There will be free digital skills training at its pop-up ‘Digital Garage’.

The event at the Town Hall offers free workshops from 10am until 4.30pm, helping local people to ‘upskill’ digitally, with a particular focus on giving tourism and hospitality businesses the digital tools they need to attract even more visitors.

Google has partnered with Visit England, the British Hospitality Association, the National Coastal Tourism Academy and UKinbound to help small businesses have the right skills to help boast about the appeal of the seaside.

As most travel bookings start online, digital skills are essential in understanding a customer’s purchase journey. Studies show that 84pc of tourists have not decided on an accommodation provider when they start trip planning.
