MORE than ten motorists have been issued with fines in Gorleston as part of the summer drink drive campaign.
Officers from Great Yarmouth held a road safety initiative on Thursday, June 10, in Gorleston promoting road safety as part of the Think Partnership campaign Don't be Loser - don't drive after drinking, which this year ties in with the World Cup.
Four drivers were issued �60 fixed penalty tickets for using their mobile phones whilst driving and nine people were issued with tickets for not wearing seatbelts. Police also issued a defect notice to one driver for defective tyres.
Inspector Paul McCarthy, who led the initiative, said: “We will continue these initiatives at different times and locations throughout the drink drive campaign.
“However, I am pleased to report that no one was found to be over the drink drive limit on this occasion.”
