MORE than ten motorists have been issued with fines in Gorleston as part of the summer drink drive campaign. MORE than ten motorists have been issued with fines in Gorleston as part of the summer drink drive campaign.

Officers from Great Yarmouth held a road safety initiative on Thursday, June 10, in Gorleston promoting road safety as part of the Think Partnership campaign Don't be Loser - don't drive after drinking, which this year ties in with the World Cup.

Four drivers were issued �60 fixed penalty tickets for using their mobile phones whilst driving and nine people were issued with tickets for not wearing seatbelts. Police also issued a defect notice to one driver for defective tyres.

Inspector Paul McCarthy, who led the initiative, said: “We will continue these initiatives at different times and locations throughout the drink drive campaign.

“However, I am pleased to report that no one was found to be over the drink drive limit on this occasion.”
