A Gorleston couple have celebrated their golden anniversary surrounded by 90 family members and friends.
Nick and Denise Furie marked their 50th wedding anniversary with a party at the Cliff Hotel on Saturday.
They married in the town’s St Peter’s Church on February 17 1968 about a year after they had met at the Regal bus stop. Mr Furie was a painter and decorator with Munford Charles and then became a college lecturer.
His wife worked at Birds Eye and spent 30 years as a domestic worker at the James Paget Hospital.
Mr Furie, 68, had represented his country in Judo at a competition in Belgium in the 1980s and he enjoys fishing and holidays abroad with his wife, 67, and who loves knitting, crochet and spending time on computers.
They have five children - Louise, Mark-Anthony, Paul, Laura and Nicholas and six grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
