THE 4th Memorial Golf day was held recently at Gorleston Golf Club, in memory of local businessman Bob Downing of Maritech Consultants Ltd.
Due to the ash cloud, there were a few players short however, more than 60 golfers took to the course. They were joined by another 40 guests for an evening meal followed by the auction and a raffle which was supported by many local companies.
Bob's brother Alan Downing awarded the trophies to the team winners HSBC bank and a speech was given by Brenda Clabburn from the British Heart Foundation who explained how the money helped the foundation. This year the event raised an amazing 10,700 for the British Heart Foundation, and pictured are Kerry Hester and Jenny England from Maritech presenting the cheque to Brenda Clabburn and Beryl Jones from the British Heart Foundation.
Plans are already underway for the 2011 golf day, anyone interested in attending or supporting the event can contact Maritech on 01493 331822.
