Over 130 members from the Guiding Family of Gorleston District enjoyed a trip to see Santa Claus at the North Norfolk Railway raising funds for the Mercury's Food for Cats and Dogs appeal along the way.

Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and their unit helpers raised the money to buy the food from a raffle held on each of the three Reynolds coaches used to take them to Sheringham.

District Commissioner Shirley Timewell said they were delighted to have the chance to provide food for the animals whilst enjoying their outing.

“It is important to remember those who are in need especially at Christmas and we thought that the Mercury animal food appeal was an appropriate way to highlight this message to our pack members. We all had a wonderful day out and know that the food we were able to provide will find its way to animals in need this Christmas.”

The Gorleston District includes units from Gorleston, Bradwell and Belton and they were joined on the trip by invited guests from Lowestoft Division.
