A man will appear in crown court next month after an incident in a Tesco store where staff were threatened with a knife.

Robert Loombe, 46, of New College Close in Gorleston, is charged with seven offences.

These include three counts of theft from a shop, two counts of possession of a knife in a public place and one count each of affray and an attempted theft from a shop.

It happened at approximately 7.45pm on Tuesday when items were stolen and staff were then threatened by a man with a knife.

He appeared at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court on Thursday afternoon and the case was formally sent to Norwich Crown Court on January 4.

Loombe was remanded in custody until the next hearing at crown court in the new year.
