IN just over a week's time a Gorleston man will finally get his chance to run the London marathon, after years of trying.

For the last five years Lee Aldred, of Nelson Road, has unsuccessfully applied to take part in the 26-mile run, but finally managed to secure a place for next Sunday, April 26.

Lee, 28, an accountant at East Norfolk Sixth Form College, is running for the Alzheimer's Society after being inspired by his grandmother who suffers from the illness.

The keen sportsman has already smashed his 1,000 target with sponsorship from friends and family and now hopes to raise even more.
