The incident happened at the Gorleston supermarket in Baker Street at 11.55am on Tuesday.

A man in his 50s had just purchased lottery tickets and cigarettes at the tobacco kiosk and left his wallet on the counter briefly and started walked away from the counter.

Just a few moments later he realised he left it and went back to collect it, only to find it was missing.

The Gorleston man said there was around £150 cash in his designer ‘Bridge’ wallet and all his credit cards which he had to get cancelled.

He said he had hoped if someone had taken it they would return it as the wallet contained his driver’s licence which included his address.

Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident and are in the process of collecting the store’s CCTV footage.

Anyone with information can call police on 101.
