THE windows and doors of a once thriving Gorleston pub remained boarded up this week as efforts continued to be made to find a new licensee to take over the pub.
The White Horse, in Burnt Lane, closed down a month ago after landlady Jacqueline Ellis decided to call it a day due to the effects of the recession, the smoking ban and rising rents.
Since then, pub company Enterprise Inns has been looking for a new publican to take over the pub's running.
However, a spokeswoman for the pub company could not give a definite date for the pub's reopening and said it was still closed while “minor repairs” took place.
Miss Ellis, 52, was in charge of the pub for eight-and-a-half years before leaving to spend more time with her grandchildren Ruby, three and Ellis, two.
