A MASS walk-in will see hundreds of primary and high school pupils along with teachers, parents and governors, taking to the streets of Gorleston in Norfolk's biggest show of support for Walk to School Week.
Pupils from Cliff Park Infant, Junior and High schools will gather at Marine Parade, Gorleston, at the Pirate Ship at 8.15am on Monday and walking to their schools in Orde Avenue and Kennedy Road.
Stevie Spencer, the county council's Smarter Travel Choices officer, said: “We are aiming to make this the biggest single walk to school event in Norfolk, and quite possibly the east of England.
“This is a great opportunity to encourage pupils and parents to walk to school. They can see how easy, fun and sociable walking can be and hope that this will persuade people to walk more often.”
The event is being supported by Norfolk Police to ensure pupils get to school safely and walkers will benefit from dropped kerbs which were installed as a result of the high school's travel plan.
Norfolk was the first county in the country to have a Travel Plan in place for every school in the county, including private schools.
