Gorleston school praised by OFSTED

A GORLESTON school has been praised by inspectors for the “exemplary” role it plays in the community and the good standard of education it offers its pupils.

Cliff Park Infant School, in Kennedy Avenue, has been judged good by OFSTED inspectors, who highlighted its outstanding contribution to community cohesion and the work it does to support families and charities within the local area.

Inspectors said the school, which has Investors in Families status, goes out of its way to accommodate family needs and that parents, grandparents and other members of the community make a strong contribution to pupils' learning.

OFSTED inspectors also said the school had good capacity for further improvement and that pupils enjoy learning, are enthusiastic and behave well.

Janet Rigby, headteacher, said: “We truly are a community school and I am thrilled that OFSTED has recognised the efforts we make to support families and community groups within the town.

“We have to contribute to our local area and beyond, encourage learning in both adults and children and help our pupils to understand the wider world if we are to truly support the overall development of our pupils and raise their aspirations and achievements.

“Everyone at our school is working extremely hard to ensure that every child reaches their potential and I am pleased that Ofsted has recognised that we are ambitious for the school and our pupils.”

The pupils thrive on challenge.

Pupils feel very safe in school and trust their teachers to take good care of them.

Leaders are ambitious for the pupils, staff and families.

All teachers have good relationships with their pupils, managing behaviour effectively.

The good curriculum ensures that pupils gain the skills they need and the school is increasingly planning links between subjects.
