A NEW look and a new shop has been created at Cliff Park Junior School for selling fruit and health snacks as part of the 5 a Day and Healthy Schools project. The opening was performed by MP Tony Wright, who took time out of his busy schedule to spend time talking to the children about their projects.
The Police and local firms donated some of the funds and materials to enable the shop to open and fully operate. The Snack Shack now opens every break time so healthy foods and snacks can be sold on the playground.
Mrs Wright, Higher Level Teaching Assistant, who worked closely with the children and community to set up this project said: “It has been hard work, but worth it! The school council worked hard in planning this venture and it has been a big success with the pupils. It is a great opportunity to promote healthy eating in the school. Schools across Great Yarmouth and Gorleston have embraced 5 a Day with great enthusiasm. But we aim to continually be at the forefront of them all.”
The school thanks Waveney Enterprises, Norfolk Constabulary, Tesco, Morrisons, B&Q, staff and governors for all their support during this school venture.
