A young singer from Gorleston needs the public vote to progress to the finals of a national music competition.

Leah Robbins, a student at Lynn Grove Academy, performed at the weekend in London for the area finals of Open Mic Uk, which is said to be the UK’s premier music competition for unsigned acts.

The 13-year-old did not progress past the London heat.

However she has been given a public vote wildcard which sees people voting for the singer they want to progress to the next stage.

A spokesman for the competition said: “The wildcard gives acts the opportunity to progress to the next round and fight another day, and ultimately get the chance to perform at the national grand final in a bid to be crowned Open Mic UK champion.”
