A Gorleston woman is warning of cat thieves who she fears prowl the Magdalen Estate.

Wendy Moore, of Oxford Avenue, said her son Robin lost his cat Gibby for more than five months last year.

She is concerned there was foul play, and said someone has now tampered with the collar of another of her cats, called Kit.

She wrote: “It seems that there may be people trying to take cats again.

“This time last year Gibby vanished.

“We thought he had gone walk about.

“But when we took him to the vets to start his injections she suggested he didn’t look the type of cat to wander and suggested he had been taken, saying he is a very pretty cat.

“He hasn’t been out since.”

She said Robin has noticed someone has tried to take their cat Kit twice.

“The first time her collar was twisted and she was nervous when she came in,” wrote Wendy. “The second time the collar had actually been removed, Robin put it back on as he got her back in the house.

“She dooesn’t go far now and sleeps close to me.”

She said she wants to remind cat lovers to keep an eye on their animals and to get them chipped.

Timid house cat Gibby eventually turned up in a shed in Russell Avenue - less than a mile away from Oxford Avenue- after going missing last August. He was able to be reunited in February as he had been chipped.
