A 10-year-old Gorleston boy met his wrestling hero on a dream trip to London thanks to a charity that makes wishes come true for sick children.

Lee Bishop, a pupil at Hillside Primary School in Bradwell, and his family met WWE wrestler John Cena at the O2 Arena before watching the “Raw” wrestling show.

The trip on November 10 and 11, was organised by the Make a Wish charity, which grants magical wishes to children with a life-threatening illness.

Lee has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a serious disease which causes muscle weakness, and the brave youngster has to undergo regular physiotherapy and hydrotherapy to help manage the condition.

While in London, Lee and his family also enjoyed a stay in the five star Wyndham Grand hotel in Chelsea Harbour, a trip to Madame Tussauds and a limousine ride to the O2. Lee was accompanied on the trip by his mother Maria Philpott and her husband Roger, uncle Paul Bishop and his siblings Curtis, aged three, Courtney, 14, and Brittany, aged 16.

Maria said: “Lee is a massive fan of wrestling. It was an amazing experience and Lee really enjoyed meeting John Cena. He was really lovely and he was so good with Lee. We want to say a big thank you to the charity as this trip meant so much to Lee.”
