A sixth form student will remember her trip to Carrow Road forever after she was invited up on stage to play drums with The Killers and stole the show.

In what has become a tradition for the Las Vegas rockers, frontman Brandon Flowers got a member of the Norwich crowd to sit behind Ronnie Vannucci’s drum kit and accompany them on the 2007 hit For Reasons Unknown.

17-year-old Grace Ellis, from Worlingham, a village just outside Beccles in Suffolk, was picked after her colourful sign attracted the attention of the band.

Despite being clearly star struck by the experience, she performed a flawless set and had everyone in the stadium cheering and clapping.

After the concert, many people were asking on social media who the mystery drummer was with people calling her 'amazing Grace'.

Miss Ellis is a pupil at East Norfolk Sixth Form College in Gorleston and had finished her final AS Level exam at 2.45pm on Thursday and had then had rushed to Carrow Road at 3.30pm to join the queue.

Miss Ellis said: "The crowd was so encouraging and when I got my banner out they started pointing at me and the next thing I remember was behind the drum kit.

"I am so grateful as The Killers are my favourite band and they inspire me."

Miss Ellis first had a go at playing an electronic drum kit at a stand from Access Creative College, based in Norwich, at Latitude Festival when she was seven.

But it wasn't until a few years later she took it up as a hobby after her uncle told her that he had a drum kit in his loft.

Since then she has played in school orchestras and with her friends in her garage.

She added: "I saw The Killers in 2018 and there is a tradition on that song to get someone to play drums.

"When this gig was postponed because of Covid I told my parents I wanted to do it and practised For Reasons Unknown in the week leading up to the the show.
