Bus users in Martham are being assured that a shelter in an exposed spot will be replaced.

Some residents were aghast when the wooden shelter in Somerton Road, near Flegg High School, was taken away.

Leslie Fearn, 68, of Damgate Lane, said, he understood the structure was in good condition.

There had been talk of it being a hang-out for teens and there was some crude graffiti which had been there some time, he said.

However, it was in an exposed spot and was probably more vandal-proof than the more modern glass ones.

He said: β€œIn the winter the wind really howls across the fields and you can get horizontal snow. It provided good shelter.”

Martham Parish Council chairman said the shelter was in a poor state of repair so it had been taken down.

The council was in the process of getting a new one which would be put up as soon as it arrived.
