A council leader has expressed his condolences after a driver died after crashing into a support wall of the A47 off the Beccles Road in Gorleston.

The driver, who was in his 50s, died in the early hours of this morning when a Honda Accord on Beccles Road was heading towards Gorleston town centre and hit the concrete support of the slip road heading towards Great Yarmouth.

Graham Plant, Great Yarmouth Borough Council leader and who represents the area, said: “It is so sad

“Obviously my thoughts go out to the family of the man. Hopefully an investigation will find out what happened. It is not an accident blackspot.”

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has information concerning the driving manner of the vehicle prior to the collision.
