A man has appeared in court charged with wounding with intent after a stabbing incident at a YMCA housing complex.

Tabo-Joshua Fungamwango, 22, was charged by police after officers were called to the YMCA residence on North Quay in Great Yarmouth in the early hours on Monday night.

A Norfolk police spokesman said the force received reports a man suffered stab wounds at about 3.20am and the victim, who is in his 20s, was taken to the James Paget University Hospital.

The victim is still being treated and it is hoped he may be allowed to leave by the end of the week.

Fungamwango, of North Quay, made a brief appearance at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and is due to appear at Norwich Crown Court next month for a hearing.

The YMCA North Quay accommodation site has two houses with four rooms.
