Last week, the Mercury reported how the 20-year-old Contact charity for special needs children has to find a new home by September next year.

It has been trying to find new premises for five years and even has the money available.

In October, Norfolk Property Services, which leases Contact its current site in Alpha Road, agreed to help staff find suitable premises. However, the search has proved fruitless and the lease will only be extended until September next year because it needs to clear the land.

Contact looks after children aged between five and school-leaving age who have a range of conditions. including autism. They take part in playschemes and have respite care on Saturdays.

Andrew Brooks from Hemsby raised £125 for Great Yarmouth & Waveney Contact, by displaying Christmas lights on his house over the festive period.
