The mayor of Great Yarmouth has officially opened a new coastal exhibition in the town.
The Drawn to the Coast exhibition is the latest offering from the Time and Tide Museum, and the new mayor, Mary Coleman, was joined at the opening by the vice chairman of Norfolk County Council, Harry Humphrey.
The collection showcases Great Yarmouth and its coast through the lives and works of artists JMW Turner, John Constable and John Sell Cotman. They are displayed alongside social history objects from the museum’s maritime collections.
Young people and community groups have also contributed to the exhibition, which will be open throughout the summer.
Continuing with the arts, the mayor then attended the preview performance of “Provisional Figures” at the Drill House.
The new piece of work, presented by SeaChange Arts, depicts the hardships faced by Portuguese workers on arrival in Great Yarmouth in the 1980s.
