YOUNG apprentices competed against the clock in the 35th annual Norfolk and Waveney Apprentices’ Competition at Great Yarmouth College.

More than 60 apprentice bricklayers, carpenters and joiners, electricians, painters and decorators and plumbers competed for gold, silver and bronze medals.

Great Yarmouth College hosted the competition in its new �6m Kier Building, the School for Construction and Creative Technologies.

Competitors came from Great Yarmouth College, City College Norwich, Lowestoft College, the College of West Anglia (COWA) and RG Carter Academy.

Hosts Great Yarmouth College won two bronze medals. Amie Hunn, one of the college’s “magnificent seven” women on its first year painting and decorating course, won a bronze medal along with apprentice electrician Darren Wells, who won silver in last year’s competition.
