A Great Yarmouth pensioner is due to appear in court today accused of murdering an 18-month-old boy almost 50 years ago.

David Dearlove is charged with murdering toddler Paul Booth, from Haverton Hill, Stockton in County Durham.

A previous court hearing was told Dearlove faces two charges - one of murder on October 1 1968, and one of neglect between January and October 1968.

That hearing was held in November 2016, when Dearlove’s age was given as 70.

His trial is due to start this morning at Teeside Crown Court.
