A man has been charged by police with arson and burglary after a Great Yarmouth business was broken into and set on fire.

Jamie Kavanagh, 45, of St Nicholas Road, Great Yarmouth, has been charged following a fire at Dexters Recruitment, based in the Great Yarmouth Business Centre in Regent Street, on August 7.

The business saw one office room totally destroyed and its two other rooms suffered extensive smoke damage and were unusable.

Kavanagh appeared before Norwich Magistrates Court on Saturday and is due to appear at Norwich Crown Court at a later date charged with arson and burglary.

Following the fire Dexters temporarily re-located to offices in Lime Kiln Walk.

Dexters is run by Kim Dexter and Jill Roper, has eight staff and had just moved into a larger space in the business centre due to a growth in business.

Mrs Dexter said the company was in the process of moving into new premises in North Quay.
