Negotiations are taking place on moving a problematic Great Yarmouth bus stop that sees passengers having to leave buses on the road.

Norfolk County Council wants to move the Market Gates bus stop by the Troll Cart that is for the no 3 service and coaches.

The shelter is by a taxi rank and the council say this results in buses unable to stop there, leading in some cases to passengers being dropped off in the carriageway.

The council had looked to implement a Traffic Regulation Order to segregate buses and taxis, which will mean the stop will move. However the order has not yet been applied for as the council says there is a reluctance at Great Yarmouth Borough Council to lose taxi spaces which would be required for a bus to align with the kerb sufficiently.

Both councils are in negotiations.

The council has also said replacement bus shelters at the Market Gates bus station will be in place by June as part of overall improvement work.
