A mother-of-three has earned herself a place in the finals of a national business awards.

The Mpower National Business Awards celebrates mothers across the UK who are able to successfully balance business and family life.

Grace Moore, from Gorleston, has been shortlisted in recognition of her work as founder of Dots & Squiggles, through which she has developed innovative musical programmes.

Using a combination of piano music and books, her programmes aim to bridge the gap between toddler singalongs and one-to-one tuition, catering for four to seven-year-olds.

Mrs Moore has been shortlisted in the innovation category and said the recognition was “absolutely thrilling”.

She said: “It’s great to share my Dots & Squiggles experience amongst like-minded entrepreneurs. Whilst I’ve always believed in the business, it’s absolutely thrilling that other people are interested in the unique work I do.”

As well as being shortlisted for the innovation award, Mr Moore is also in with a chance of winning the title of Mpower Woman Of The Year 2018, which will be awarded to the mum who is an inspiration to all women in business.

Nicola Huelin, business coach, mother-of-four and founder of the Mpower awards, said: “Often invisible to most, mums in business are changing the business landscape, while raising and inspiring the generations of the future.

“We believe their efforts and successes in overcoming the unique challenges of combining business and motherhood, particularly in those first few years when it’s the hardest, need to be recognised and celebrated.”

The Dots & Squiggles programme is made up of 12 week blocks, with children progressing through a combination of lessons, activities and homework tasks.

As well as basic piano skills, children are also taught ear training, music theory and rhythm ensemble, and parents are encouraged to learn alongside their child.

Mrs Moore will find out if she has won on June 23 at The Mpower Gala, being held at the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury in London, and will be judged by a panel of parent entrepreneurs.

The gala is open to all entrepreneurs and business owners for an evening of networking and tickets can be booked through the Mpower website at www.mpowerawards.com
