Police officer left with broken fingers after being ‘badly assaulted’

A Great Yarmouth police officer suffered broken fingers during the arrest of a wanted man.

The officer has been signed off work for “at least” a month, according to the Norfolk Police Federation, after being “badly assaulted.”

Commenting on the recent incident, Norfolk Police Federation tweeted: “@GYarmouthPolice officer has recently been badly assaulted during an arrest of a wanted male.

“Officer sustained broken fingers. Officer now signed off work for at least one month. Officer contacted by local @NorfolkPolfed rep to offer support and guidance.”

The Norfolk Police Federation represents more than 1,500 men and women who provide a policing service to the people of Norfolk.
