PUBS in Great Yarmouth were busy as people watched the Royal wedding on TV while supping a pint.

The Troll Cart in Yarmouth town centre was packed with drinkers watching the screens, including many holidaymakers making a trip to the seaside.

Other town centre pubs, including the Feathers and Uptown Bar, were full of people watching the marriage of Prince William and Catherine Middleton.

The Ashbrook and Walkden families were visiting Yarmouth from Manchester and Newton-Le-Willows.

Philip Ashbrook, 55, said: “It has been superb. It has created a real family atmosphere around the Royal wedding.

“I think it will boost the Royal family as an institution. They do a good job. They are a figurehead, which the country needs.”

Pete Jackson, 52 and his wife Michelle, 51, were visiting from Peterborough and had popped into the Feathers to watch the ceremony.

He said: “I think the wedding has helped to lift the nation’s spirits and will make a big difference to us as a country. It helps to put us around the world.”
