Pupils at St Nicholas Priory Primary School in Great Yarmouth have made another visit to the Fisherman’s Hospital to share cheese muffins and chocolate fridge cake with the residents of the site.
The Year 5 children made the goodies themselves during cookery lessons and created presentation bags to put the food in along with hand-written cards.
The visit was arranged following on from their autumn term project work on making links with the local community.
One of the residents said that he was really pleased to see children from the local community and how lovely it was to talk to young people, particularly given that he had not had any visitors since Christmas.
The Fisherman’s Hospital was built in 1702 by the corporation of Great Yarmouth for old or “decayed” fishermen. It could house up to 40 residents, but now only nine cottages remain with about eight residents.
