One hundred years of the Royal Air Force is to be celebrated by the Great Yarmouth branch of the Royal Air Force Association (RAFA).

All past and current members of the RAF will be invited to join the RAFA for a buffet lunch at The Burlington Hotel, in North Drive on the town’s seafront.

The mayor, Kerry Robinson Payne, and other civic leaders will also be in attendance, as well as special guests.

The RAF was formed from the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Naval Air Service on April 1, 1918, towards the end of the First World War.

This amalgamation made the RAF the first independent air force in the world.

The lunch will be used as an opportunity to recognise the part played by all ranks over the course of the force’s 100 year history.

For further information or a personal invitation to the buffet lunch, contact the branch secretary, Tom Gilbert, on 07711555065 or tomgilbert849@gmail.com by April 20.
