Problems over rats, mice and wasps saw Great Yarmouth Borough Council’s pest control service called out more than 470 times in the past year.

The council was called upon 371 times in regards to rodents and 105 times concerning wasps.

In a statement the council said: “Rodents are resident in human settlements around the world, where they have access to plenty of food.

Residents and businesses can reduce their risk of rats by storing food securely and disposing of waste responsibly in bins.

“GYB Services Ltd, the borough council’s operational partner, provides a range of paid-for pest control services at domestic premises within the borough, including for rats and mice, wasps and fleas.

People can arrange a visit from a pest controller and pay via the council’s website or by calling 01493 742200.”

The figures come form a FOI request for all district councils in Norfolk with more than 1,500 pest call-outs reported from the four that responded.
