A charity has said a big “thank you” to the public whose votes helped earn it a £6,000 grant towards its community bus service.
Centre 81 at Great Yarmouth runs a fleet of 10 fully accessible minibuses which take 500 passengers on door-to-door trips ranging from medical appointments to shopping and social outings. The service is run from its Tar Works Road headquarters which also provides skills and activities for people with disabilities.
It was one of six Norfolk finalists in a nationwide community award pot marking the 300th anniversary of the Freemasons. It won more than the basic £2,000 thanks to the number of public votes it received.
Centre 81 chief executive Diana Staines said: “These grants make a big difference to our funds. We would like to thank the Freemasons and the many people who voted for us.” Learn more about Centre 81 and its community service at www.centre81.co.uk
