A pub in the centre of Great Yarmouth has been given a £80,000 investment boost.
Peggotty’s on King Street has undergone a £80,000 refurbishment thanks to Ei Publican Partnerships, a national pub company with more than 5,000 establishments.
The pub is run by Tracey Cook and Lorne Stonebridge, who said: “We worked with our regional manager to make some really significant changes, including new solid oak flooring and enhanced lighting throughout.
“The work has revived the pub and helped to bring many more people into the venue, so we’re delighted.”
Ei Publican Partnerships regional manager Paul Devine added: “Lorne and Tracey took over the pub around 14 months ago.
“They marketed the pub really well, but couldn’t really take the pub any further forwards without some investment from us.
“We were very impressed with them and were happy to support their hopes for the pub and made the investment, which we know has been spent wisely thanks to our segmentation tool.
“The industry-leading tool enables us to work in partnership with our publicans to unlock the potential of our pubs by putting them at the heart of the community they serve, providing the right retail offer and driving up retail standards.”
The couple at the pub also run the neighbouring nightclub.
In 2016 we reported on how regulars started a petition at Peggotty’s asking Enterprise Inns to keep its character after landlady Roseanne Whitworth decided to leave.
Ei Publican Partnerships is also appealing for people to come forward to run the Kings Head in Blofield.
A company statement said: “Very much a community led pub, The Kings Head has developed a strong reputation among tourists and locals alike, for its quality food menu and Sunday lunch.
“A new operator should continue to build on this reputation and solidify the pub as a food destination, whilst tackling the opportunity to develop the business’s cask ale appeal.”
