Rollerskaters have brought home a clutch of medals including a haul of golds adding to Great Yarmoth’s proud record.
Members of Retroskate Artistic Roller Skating Club travelled to Kettering to test their figure and freestyle skills earning 11 medals in the first day.
The Federation of Artisic Roller Skating (FARS) annual competition is among the most hotly contested in the skating calendar and saw 26 home skaters take to the rink.
Ranging in age from seven to 20 years, the team skated its way to 22 medals, including nine gold, six silver, and seven bronze.
The youngest member of the team seven-year-old Daisy Self picked up the first medal of the two day event, gold in the tots figure group with Amber Stevens placed in 3rd.
With six Retro skaters in the tough mini’s figure event, Fraia Wicks, aged nine, won gold with her brother Harlee in 2nd and Molly Self in 3rd, taking all three podium places and the next three.
Ellen Siegert continued her figure trophy spree winning gold in espoir, with the youngest in her group Eva Simpkins clinching 3rd.
Meanwhile Aimee Keenor took gold in prelim, Emily Deag 2nd in inter-bronze, Dulcie Read 2nd in youth, and Danielle Tuddenham gold in the highest event of the day, senior.
Day two continued with freestyle and Daisy Self collect her second medal, bronze in tots, with sisters Lili and Amber Stevens close behind in 4th and 5th.
Emilia Popova went on to pick up a silver in the young novice, Maddie Parrott just missing out skating to 4th place, and Team Retro’s newest member Matilda Powling in 7th in a group of 15.
Also in novice, Jessica Buxton performed her way to gold in a group of 15 in the 12-13 years category; Jade Montouri secured silver in the 14 years and above, with Siobhan Jaye in 10th and Chloe Saiche-Ingram 14th out of 18 skaters.
The six mini’s took to the floor once again and saw Harlee Wicks take Gold, Molly Self silver, Fraia Wicks 4th, Harmony Widdowson 5th, Megan Tubby 6th, and Abigail Coleman 8th.
Skating for the first time in the higher elementary standard and just recovering from a back injury Olivia Clutten secured gold.
In espoir Ellen Siegert graced the podium again to 3rd place with Eva Simpkins in 5th against 13 skaters.
All eyes were on the rink for the extremely tough cadet freestyle when Destiny Widdowson jumped her way to 3rd, Savannah Canham to 4th and Daisy Jennings 5th.
Dulcie Read secured gold in youth and Danielle Tuddenham 3rd in bronze.
The team is now looking ahead to the British Championships in June.
