Great Yarmouth set for Christmas Lantern Parade

The Annual Christmas Lantern parade takes place tomorrow evening in Great Yarmouth to coincide with the town’s late night shopping evening.

From 6.30pm the procession of lanterns large and small will be led by the Reedham Reindeer and will end with a visit to the Tree and Crib Festival taking place in St Nicholas Church.

The Reindeer will lead the parade into the Market Place from Christchurch on King Street. Here the reindeer will then be fed and watered in their pen, whilst the Salvation Army Choir will lead carol singing in the Market Square and the donkey will be available for rides.

Town centre shops will be open until 8.30pm with free parking after 4pm in all Borough Council town centre car parks.

The evening begins with activities in Great Yarmouth Library from 5pm to 6pm including Christmas craft making and carol singing plus free snacks and non-alcoholic punch courtesy of Norfolk Library service.

No lanterns will be made at this event, however anyone wishing to participate in the parade should assemble outside Christchurch from 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start.

The lanterns and reindeer will parade along King Street and around the Market Place, where the reindeer will be penned before the parade continues to St Nicholas Church where all participants in the parade will be allowed free entry to the Christmas Tree and Crib Festival that is opening late on Wednesday evening.
