Mr Roadley-Battin added that the open day would have activities and also offer a people a chance to see the plans for a new look £350,000 station and the appeal to help fund it, which has already reached £100,000.

Paul Garrod, chairman of Caister lifeboat station, was more than delighted to sign up to Norfolk Day and arrange an open to help celebrate the county and the borough’s merits.

He said: “It is a beautiful county and obviously we want more people to come and visit and enjoy it.”

Mr Garrod is uncle to Dr Ben Garrod, the evolutionary biologist, primatologist and broadcaster and who was raised in Yarmouth and has signed up as an official Norfolk Day ambassador.

He said described Norfolk Day as a “great idea for anyone wanting to celebrate who they are and what they have on their doorstep”.
