TO celebrate World Book Day and the opening of the new library at Greenacre First and Middle School, local independent bookseller Books Inside, visited the school. Every child in the country in full time education is entitled to receive one World Book Day £1 Book Token. Usually they pupil has to take the token to a participating bookseller to exchange.

However, thanks to Books Inside, over 500 pupils at Greenacre got their free book at the school and the bookseller estimates it will have given away over 1,000 books by the end of World Book week.

Martin Blackwell, owner of Books Inside said: “The bookseller has to buy the books and then give them away! However, we think it's worth it to encourage children to read more and we are, or course, building our customer base in years to come. Last year we gave away about 100 books. This year, by taking them to the children, we have 10 times as many children with a book in their hand. During the afternoon the children were thrilled to come and select a free book to take home.”

Greenacre has recently completely restocked its library through Books Inside.

Children with vouchers can exchange them for a free book or use against other purchase at Books Inside, in Market Gates Shopping centre, up to March 30.
