BURGLARS walked into the Great Yarmouth home of an elderly woman and stole her handbag on Wednesday which contained treasured photographs of her late husband and sister.

BURGLARS walked into the Great Yarmouth home of an elderly woman and stole her handbag on Wednesday which contained treasured photographs of her late husband and sister.

After shopping in the town the 96-year-old returned to her Patterson Close flat at about 11.30am and left the back door slightly ajar.

The woman left her handbag on a chair in her living room while she went into her bedroom for a few minutes. When she returned the back door was wide open and her back gate was also open.

Her light brown handbag was also missing.

The shoulder bag contained two �10 notes, some change, her pacemaker card, bus pass, and stamps. It also contained photographs of her late husband and sister.

Police are keen to trace two men seen talking in the stairwell around the time of the incident and believe they could hold important information.

The incident happened between 11.30am and 11.45am.
