Twelve students from East Norfolk Sixth Form College last week attended a breakfast, talks and a general introduction and exposure to the energy industry.
It was part of the college’s “Girls Allowed… Into the Energy Industry” event.
Touring around a number of oil and gas companies in the area, with a number of successful female professionals as speakers, the students were given valuable exposure to the local energy industry and provided with a networking opportunity, career building events, progression routes and tips, in order to break into successful and long-lasting careers within what some may consider a male-dominated industry.
With the support of the Womens Energy Network (WEN), East Norfolk College and a number of other local companies including AID Industrial, Dexters Recruitment, Fugro, Gardline, Opito, Seajacks, 3Sun, and AID Industrial, is committed to helping break down the stigma of women within the industry and promoting that careers here are not just for boys!
Women in Energy will run more of these events.
