Harry Haddock to join Yarmouth’s seafront Santa Run!

A VERY special local character has signed up to take part in Great Yarmouth’s first ever Santa Run, in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

Harry the Haddock, the six-foot tall fish mascot of Harry Ramsden’s on Marine Parade, will be joining other Harry Ramsden staff in the Santa Run which will see them run, jog or walk the one mile seafront route on December 9

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) runs three hospices, including Quidenham in Norfolk providing care and support to local life threatened children and their families.

Jodie Lovett, manager at Harry Ramsden’s said: “I saw the leaflets promoting the event and thought this would be a great way for the staff to have fun and raise money for an extremely worthwhile charity. This is the first event we’ve taken part in for EACH, but hope to work together more in the future by taking part in other fundraising activities over the next year. We’re aware most of the other entrants are humans but hope Harry won’t feel too much like a fish out of water taking part.”

Gary Cook, EACH Norfolk Fundraiser, said: “It’s fantastic the staff (and Harry) at the restaurant have decided to join us at our first ever Great Yarmouth Santa Run and follows on from the support the Marina Centre has shown by taking part and supplying a gym instructor to take the warm up.

“Individuals as well as businesses can take part and there is still time to enter – just call us at our Norfolk Fundraising Office 01953 666767 and we’ll do the rest!”

The Great Yarmouth Santa Run 2012 is supported by Comfort Hotel in yarmouth and starts at 11am at The Wellington Pier. Entry fees are 10 for adults (aged 14+) including a Santa suit or 8 without a suit, while children (age 13 and under) are 5 including a Santa hat.
