Have say on library's future

THE community can have a say in the future of Great Yarmouth's library by helping an artist to create artwork to adorn the new look building when it re-opens following a refurbishment.
Swaffham artist Charlotte Howarth, 39, has been commissioned to create the design to engage people with library services and reflect the local area, people and history.
But apart from meeting these criteria, she has a blank canvas and a 20,000 budget for the project and is planning to hold a series of workshops at the library in Tolhouse Street to glean ideas from visitors.
She is trained in sculpting and stone carving and the artwork could be a painting, a mural, a sculpture or anything that could be reasonably housed on the library site.
She hopes to have the artwork done by December or January.
The major refurbishment at the library has been ongoing since the beginning of the year thanks to 1.4m of BIG Lottery funding.

The new-look library is due to be completed by the end of the summer and will boast a new community kitchen, more PCs, workshops and studios, open plan exhibition space and a new express library area for the most popular books and recent releases. The library exterior is also currently undergoing a facelift, with a new picture window and entrance that will face the road and make the library more identifiable to passers-by.
