A Caister family are appealing for help to track down their beloved pet parrot after he flew out the front door.

Caroline Durrant, a mum of four, has only had Maverick the African grey for a week and is devastated after he escaped at around 3.40pm yesterday.

Her children had gone outside to play and left the front door open. Maverick was out of his cage and Caroline rushed to shut the door but the feathered friend made it outside before she could get to him.

The 41-year-old, from Pyke Court, drove round for hours yesterday looking for him and knocked on neighbours’ doors, but has not been able to track down the nine-year-old parrot.

She said Maverick will happily be picked up and asked anyone who found him to put him in a safe place and contact her on 07592359666 or 01493 722858.
