A threat of exploding chemicals has closed off Haven Bridge in Great Yarmouth.

Police have sealed off all roads to and from the area, introducing a tight cordon, as firefighters and specialists deal with the problem - the cause of which is as yet unknown.

Three fire appliances are attending, one on the middle of the bridge itself, the others by the South Quay riverside.

Vehicles are at standstill in Yarmouth Way, and no traffic is passing along South Quay. The bottom half of Regent Street is also cordoned off and vehicles are being diverted from the town centre to Fuller's Hill roundabout and across Breydon Bridge to get access to the southern villages.
