NEARLY 50 aspiring heads from the county were celebrated for their achievement of a prestigious headship qualification at a special ceremony - among them two teachers from the Great Yarmouth area.

Philippa Collingwood of Edward Worlledge Junior and Deborah Harris of Stradbroke Primary were congratulated on gaining the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) by Bob Bond, senior secondary adviser at Norfolk County Council, Ian Clayton, headteacher of Thorpe St Andrew and Carol Atkinson, national succession consultant for the National College for School Leadership.

The event recognised the importance of stepping up to headship and congratulated some of the talented teachers who have recently achieved NPQH, the highly regarded qualification that is mandatory for those applying to their first headship role.
