HEALTHCARE provider NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney has received an award in recognition of its efforts to encourage staff to lead a healthy lifestyle.

The “fit for business” award from the Big Lottery Fund was given to the organisation this month in recognition of its efforts in persuading staff to meet five key criteria, including physical activity, healthy eating, mental health and wellbeing, stopping smoking and drug and alcohol awareness.

Lyn Blizzard, health improvement principal at the PCT, said: “We are delighted to be the first organisation in the region to achieve this accreditation. The health and wellbeing of our staff is of key importance as, without them, we would be unable to commission and provide health services on behalf of the communities we serve.”
