SNOW has caused further havoc with schools and roads in the Great Yarmouth borough after 5cms falling overnight on top of snow still laying on the ground from yesterday.

The overnight deluge has forced 36 schools, virtually all the schools in the borough to close for today after 10 were closed yesterday.

Among the high profile casualties was East Norfolk Sixth Form College in Gorleston, which closed for students due to the road conditions but remained open for staff to prepare Monday's exams.

A number of high schools were forced to shut, including Cliff Park and Lynn Grove in Gorleston and more snowfall is predicted for the rest of today.

Roads were also treacherous in the area, including the A12 which was icy with a layer of slush.

The list of local schools closed and why is:

Acle High School - Site conditions and severe weather warning

Acle St Edmunds CE VC Primary School - unsafe site conditions inside grounds and surrounding access routes / severe weather warning

Blofield Primary School - Schol site and roads unsafe due to severe icy conditions

Bradwell Hillside Primary School - Severe ice problems on school site. Travel difficulties for staff and pupils. Unable to provide school lunches. Open on Monday - hopefully!

Bradwell Homefield CE VC Primary School - Severe weather and risk to staff and pupils. Planning to open Monday 11th January.

Bradwell Woodlands Primary School - Site unsafe and staff unable to get in.

Broadland High School - Due to safety of staff and students on site

Brundall School - travel conditions for staff in diferent locations;poor forecast at crtical travel times; aim to reopen Monday

Bunwell Primary School - Fuel has not arrived so no heating in mobile. School re-opens Monday 11th January.

Caister High School - Due to the weather conditions the school will be closed

Caister Infant School - Continued severe weather conditions.

Caister Junior School - Hazardous conditions due to the snow.

Catfield CE VC Primary School - snow bound roads - staff unable to get to school

Cliff Park Community Junior School

Cliff Park High School - Due to further overnight snowfall on frozen surfaces - large number of staff unable to get to school safely

Cliff Park Infant School - Staff unable to travel to school due to dangerous road conditions.

Cobholm Primary School - Closed due to staff unable to travel in hazardous weather conditions

East Norfolk Sixth Form College - College closed for students due to road conditions. Open for any staff who need to prepare for Monday's exams.

Edward Worlledge Community Junior School - School closed due to hazardous weather conditions

Filby Primary School

Flegg High School - Road conditions unsafe for pupils and staff. Forecast of further heavy snow.

Great Yarmouth VA High School - With deteriorating weather overnight the decision has been made to close the school for health and safety reasons.

Greenacre Primary School - Closed due to severe weather forecast and travel conditions.

Happisburgh CE VC Primary School - Not enough staff able to travel to school because of road conditions.

Hemsby Primary School - Road conditions and dangerous playground

Herman Primary School

Hickling CE VC Infant School - Unsafe travel conditions and severe weather warning for p.m. Hickling Hunnies Playgroup is also closed

Hillside Avenue Primary & Nursery School

Hopton CE VC Primary School - Adverse weather conditions affecting travel to school means we will not have enough staff to open the school.

Horning Community Primary School - Hazardous travel conditions for staff and pupils

John Grant School - School closed to pupils and staff on Friday due to severe weather conditions for travel

Lingwood First & Nursery School - adverse weather conditions - safety considerations

Lingwood Junior School - Poor travelling conditions and bad forecast.

Loddon Junior School - Travel and site safety

Ludham Primary School & Nursery - Predicted road conditions again too treacherous

Lynn Grove VA High School - Closed due to severe weather conditions

Northgate St Andrews Community First School - Closed due to conditions on school site and road. Concerns for staff and pupil safety.

Oriel Specialist Mathematics and Computing College - Due to inclement weather leading to worsening travel conditions we have closed to protect the safety of our students and staff.

Ormesby Village Infant School - School still remains closed due to dangerous road conditions and more predicted snowfall in the school area before the end of the school day.

Peterhouse Primary School - Continuing weather conditions mean insufficient teaching staff able to safely travel to school

Rollesby Primary School - Closure due to weather conditions and staff unable to get to school.

Rosemary Musker High School - Closed due unsafe site conditions and heating problems in some blocks

Southtown Infant School - School closed due to hazardous conditions in the local area and staff unable to get to school

St. George's Infant School - Closed until Monday

St. John's Community Primary School & Nursery, Hoveton

St. Mary's RC VA Primary & Nursery School, Gorleston - Severe Weather Forecast

St. Nicholas CE VC Priory Junior School - closed due to snow and dangerous travel conditions

St. Nicholas Junior School - Local roads are dangerous and staff have travel difficulties

St. Peter & St. Paul CE VC Primary School - adverse weather conditions

Stalham Community Infant School

Stradbroke Community Primary School - A large number of the teaching staff unable to get to school due to poor travel conditions leaving an insufficent number to run the school safely.

Winterton Primary School

Woodland View Junior School - Difficulty in getting staff in to school

Wroughton Infant School - Severe weather comditions. Staff unable to get to school.
