NORFOLK County Council and the NHS are urging people across the county to get involved in developing and improving local health, social care and housing support services.

Part of the Vocal Local campaign, which is highlighting how ordinary people are making things happen and making a difference, the Your Voice membership scheme is giving Norfolk people the chance to be at the heart of local services.

Joy Salter, a carer from Acle, said: “Your Voice will create even more opportunities for people to get involved and make sure their opinions are heard. I would urge people to sign up and be passionate about this.

“Being a carer, I am enthusiastic about the issues carers face and by being involved with various committees I have managed to raise awareness and see services improve for other people in my situation.”

Councillor David Harwood, cabinet member for adult social services, said: “Your Voice will link up various health and social care organisations to help make it easy for people to get involved and make a difference to how their services are run.

“People who have experience of services are often the best people to offer advice and shape the future of health and social services, and this is a way of empowering people to take part.”

The Your Voice scheme is open to people aged 18 and over and involvement opportunities could include responding to consultations, taking part in working groups, sitting on recruitment panels and helping to deliver training.

The Your Voice scheme needs people's views and skills to make sure everyone has the best possible experience of health, social care, and housing support services - now and in the future.

Your Voice is funded through a partnership between Norfolk County Council Community Services, NHS Norfolk, Supporting People, Norfolk LINk and the Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT).
